Edgar Eugene Meunier, 1932 – 2015

GeneEdgar Eugene (Gene) Meunier, 83, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 27, 2015.

Gene was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was passionately involved in his church, Church of the Resurrection. He leaves his beloved wife of 58 years, Sylvia (Schneider) Meunier; his sons, Dave and Jeff Meunier (wife, Wendy); his brothers, Bob and Joe, his sister, Mary Lou; his grandchildren, Chris, Andy, Ben, Nicky, Megan, Katie and Brian; along with many close friends.

He was born on January 26, 1932 and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, by parents Joseph Clinton and Lucille Meunier.

Following graduation from the University of Notre Dame in 1953 (Go Irish!) he married Sylvia in 1956. Together, they moved to Sunnyvale, CA in 1968 and raised their two boys.

Gene served as a volunteer at Church of the Resurrection for many years, serving as a member of the Pastoral Council and assisting as a Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at daily Masses, Communion services, weekend Masses, and funerals. Gene participated in the morning Rosary devotions each week and was a valuable assistant in the sacristy. His faith, positive spirit and help, to the clergy and to the Resurrection Community will always be remembered.

As he always used to say every morning when he read the obituaries in the paper, “Oh look, everyone died in alphabetical order.” He’d be happy to know that this is still the case.

Gene’s Memorial Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 6th, at 11:00 am here at the Church of the Resurrection. There will be a Rosary for Gene the same morning at 10:30, also at the Church of the Resurrection

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Church of the Resurrection in Sunnyvale, CA.

Please keep Gene and his family in your prayers.
