Crispina Toth, 1952 – 2014

CrispinaToth

Crispina Toth, a long-time parishioner of Resurrection Parish, passed away at her home on May 13, 2014, after a 19 year battle with cancer. She was 62 years old.

Cris was born on December 5, 1952 in San Carlos City, Pangasinan in the Philippines, the 11th child in a family of 13 children. Being the first female child in the family, Cris was nicknamed “Lady”, a name she carried throughout her life.

After high school, Cris moved to Manila to attend the University of Santo Tomas. She graduated with a degree in Sociology. After working a few years, Cris eventually arrived in the United States in 1979 to begin a career in Marketing, as well as earn her MBA.   Shortly after, Cris met and married her husband, David, and began raising a family of three wonderful children – Rebecca, Kevin, and Kyle.

Throughout her life, Cris had many interests. She developed a love of music at an early age and played piano and guitar. Cris was a terrific cook and the family always enjoyed her Filipino specialty dishes. She loved her get togethers with her friends as well as family activities and vacations, and she loved to travel.   Cris was very active in Resurrection School while all three kids attended and she remained active in Resurrection Church.

Cris will be remembered for her strong devotion to her Catholic faith and her immediate and extended family, as well as her loyalty to her friends. While she still could, she cherished time with family and friends. Cris was a private person, not wanting to talk about her health problems, quietly but proudly following the kids’ activities and accomplishments. She had incredible strength and faith as she battled cancer, pushing herself to be there for the family as the kids grew up. She made it, as our youngest just turned 21.   It is reassuring to know that Cris has finally found peace and is resting without pain in a better place. At the same time, we will all miss her deeply.

Crispina’s Vigil service will take place on Monday evening, May 19th, at 7:00 pm at the Lima Campagna Mortuary in Sunnyvale. Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 20th, here at the Church of the Resurrection.

Please keep Crispina and her family in your prayers.
