Farewell to Father Dennis Gilbert

FrDennis-blogFather Dennis Gilbert is retiring from active ministry and his last day at Resurrection Parish will be this Sunday, January 12th. Father Dennis, who was a seminary classmate of Fr. Bob’s and is a priest of the Diocese of Monterey, has served Resurrection Parish for just over five years, having come to us in December, 2008.

Fr. Dennis has shared his energy for life and his sense of humor with everyone he meets.  His understanding of family life, learned through raising two adopted sons, has given him a unique way of preaching the Gospel. His gift of storytelling has been a hallmark of his homilies, which have left us all with vivid images that link us to the Word of God.

There will be an opportunity for Father Dennis’s many friends to bid him farewell this Sunday. Father Dennis will preside at the 10:00 o’clock Mass this Sunday, Jan 12, and there will be a reception for him in Farana center after that Mass.

Fr. Dennis’s time of service here, has been full of compassion and hard work.  We will miss him as he moves onto a sunny Southern California retirement and we wish him many more years of evangelization, Fr. Dennis style!
