Two Parishioners Honored for 35 Years as Faith Formation Teachers

IMG_0270Each year our diocesan St. Pius X Awards Banquet provides a special opportunity for our diocese and parishes to recognize and honor catechetical volunteers who have generously and lovingly given of themselves for 10 and more years of volunteer service to the community. At last week’s banquet two Resurrection Parish parishioners,.  Rita Fritchle and Lasoria Reid, received special plaques from Bishop Patrick McGrath honoring their 35 years of excellent and faithful service in Catechetical Ministry.

Rita Fritchle has been a catechist for Faith Formation programs at Resurrection and also was the parish secretary for 28 years. Currently she is a much loved catechist for Sunday Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Rita has a soft-spoken and kind manner and has participated in numerous faith formation activities which she continues to this day.

Lasoria Reid first served as a sacramental preparation catechist in Jamaica. For the last 26 years she has been a catechist for Children’s Liturgy of the Word at Resurrection. Lasoria is a dedicated catechist and a wonderful role model for children. In her ministry she believes in the advice of Proverbs 22:6: “Train a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Many thanks, Lasoria and Rita, for all you have done for the children of our parish!
