Resurrection Participates in Kairos Prison Ministry

Three members of our parish community, Fr. Bob, Deacon Mike and Francis Matus, will be spending this coming weekend (Nov. 9-12) at the California Medical Facility prison in Vacaville working on a Kairos Prison Ministry weekend.  A Kairos weekend has it’s roots in the Cursillo movement and, like Cursillo, is an intensive 3-day “short course in Christianity”. Kairos weekends are conducted by an ecumenical team of Christian laymen and clergy.  Through this systematic structured program, God helps Kairos volunteers provide Residents the opportunity to come to know Jesus Christ and/or to renew their relationship with Him.  During the weekend and subsequent follow-ups by volunteers and prison chaplains, residents are challenged to accept God’s call to be disciples of Christ in a life of Christian witness and service to one another and to the prison staff during their stay in the institution and beyond.

Find out more about Kairos on the Kairos website.

Please keep the Kairos team and the CMF residents who will be making the weekend in your prayers.
