Marian Gardner O’Hara, 1937 -2012

Marian Gardner O’Hara, a long-time parishioner of Resurrection Parish passed away on Friday, June 29th.

Marian was born to Everett and Mary Gardner on September 23, 1937, in Joliet, Ill. She earned a B.S. degree in elementary education from State University of New York – Geneseo in 1959, and married David O’Hara on Sept. 3, 1960 in Rochester, NY. After three years of teaching she took on the full time job of raising a family of six children. She retired in 1992 after several years as a medical assistant to Dr. William Odom.

Everyone knew Marian as an extraordinary person – always upbeat with a wonderful sense of humor. Her infectious smile and laughter was contagious to all who knew her. Friends, family and neighbors knew her kind heart was open, and so was her front door. She was a ready companion and second mom to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Marian was well loved and will be greatly missed by friends and family alike.

Marian is survived by her husband David, Sunnyvale, daughters Maureen Guinnane (Vincent), San Jose, and Patricia O’Hara – King, (Austin), Seattle, WA, and sons Thomas O’Hara,(Michele), Eagle Point, OR, John O’Hara (Kelly Saxman), Warminster, PA, Mark O’Hara (Kelly Simcox), San Jose, James O’Hara, (Christopher Shields), Seattle, WA. Marian never missed a birthday remembrance and deeply loved her five grandchildren Victoria and James Guinnane, Shane, Jack and Nash O’Hara.

There will be a Rosary Vigil on Thursday, July 5, at 7:00 pm here at the Church of the Resurrection.  Her Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, July 6, at 10:30 am..
