Jose Muniz Lopez, 1921 – 2010

Jose Muniz Lopez passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010.  He was  88 years old.

Jose’s Funeral Mass will take place at Resurrection Church on Wednesday, November 24th at 1:00 pm and will be preceded by a rosary and viewing beginning at Noon.

Jose was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on December 26, 1921.  He left home at the age of 14 to work and help support his family, which he did until his parents passed.  He eventually made his way to the U.S. and worked mostly as a migrant farmworker, and at Libby’s cannery.  He was also quite the gardener.  He got to travel a large portion of the country and had many stories from this time.

Eventually he met the woman he was to marry, Tomasa Aguirre.  They had three girls, Veronica, Claribel, and Araseli.  He also received what he has always wanted, a grandchild, Arlis Lopez-Taylor.

Jose was a devoutly Catholic man, who prayed every morning and night, made the sign of the cross over his children  before they left the house every time, and went to church until he was no longer as mobile.  He passed away with several family members by his side as they were finishing up the Rosary; it was pouring outside.

Please keep Jose and his family in your prayers.
