A Plea to our Congregation

In three short years, Resurrection will be celebrating our 50th anniversary as a parish.  As we get close to our “Golden Anniversary”, we must also note that our parish facilities are approaching 50 years of age and with that comes additional maintenance costs; and herein lies the urgency of our plea.  Our church roof must be replaced, it is not a matter of when, the when is now.  At all of our Masses on the weekend of October 23rd & 24th, a member of the parish development committee addressed the critical condition of the roof.  We have already incurred mold remediation costs in the ushers room, and there were buckets near the altar to collect the rain drops last year.

In addition, our aging parish is experiencing increasing maintenance needs and the funds from our weekly offering including our parish maintenance second collection are not able to keep up with the maintenance demands.  We need to establish a fund to address the deferred maintenance, the lighting needs in the parish parking lot and around the grounds, and about 20 other deferred maintenance projects on the list.

We are on our way to collecting $250,000 by December 31st, 2010, to meet the costs of these urgent projects, but we need the help of all parishioners in our parish.  While we are asking for $1,500 from every family, we ask that you do what you can.  We understand that we are asking for a significant contribution, but the rich heritage of our church and our community is in our hands and to ensure the future of our parish for generations to come we need your help now.

Donations may be made by cash, check, or credit card via Parish Pay.  If you are considering donating stock, please click here to download instructions or contact Fr. Bob for assistance.  Click here for more information about our plea.
