The Power of Music

Music sets a mood; Music has powers to express our emotions and beliefs; Music touches our inner heart; Music involves people; Music creates beauty; Music helps us to pray.

We are fortunate here at Church of the Resurrection to have a wonderful group of music ministers. Their dedication and devotion to God, our Church and its music enables them to help deepen our prayers bringing us closer to God and to each other.

God has given each of us various gifts and talents. As we gather together each weekend for Mass, we each have a role to play. Many of us use these God-given gifts as we serve in ministries here at Resurrection. Your role as part of the assembly is to sing together as a community. The power of this joint, sung prayer uplifts us and touches our hearts in a way that words cannot describe.

As Director of Music here I am always looking for people who are interested in sharing their musical talents. If you love to sing, or if you play guitar, bass, a stringed instrument or flute, please come to talk to me to see if there is a place for you in our music ministry.

I would like to welcome each and every person who comes into our Church to worship and to pray. I invite you to come to the piano after Mass or come to the Church office during the week to introduce yourself. Please remember that the choir and music ministers are not here to sing FOR you but rather to sing WITH you, leading us all into a more meaningful prayer and community together. God created your voice and he wants to hear it singing his praises.  Remember – All the birds of the forest sing, and so should we.
