Loretta Kellar, 1927 – 2010

Lorretta T (Forde) Kellar was born in Abbeyside, Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland on May 22, 1927. She attended Mercy Convent School for both elementary and secondary education.

Lorretta immigrated to London, England in 1951. While in London, she served as an assistant shoe buyer, first for Saxane and then Lillian Skinner. She immigrated to Boston, MA in 1959.

She married Robert E Kellar on November 5, 1960. She gave birth to 3 sons – William D. II (1961), Robert Jr. (1963) and Barry (1964) – while living in Massachusetts. She moved to Sunnyvale, California with her family in 1967 after a brief residence in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.
She attended the Church of the Resurrection from 1967 until 1978 when she moved to Columbus, OH. While a member of the Resurrection, she assisted in CCD instruction. During this period, Lorretta also became a naturalized citizen in 1975.

Her years in Columbus were spent mostly as a housewife. Upon Bob’s retirement in 1989 from Merrill Publishing, travel became a major activity, though Lorretta also enjoyed playing cards and was active in Women For Today association.

Lorretta died on July 15, 2010. She was preceded in death by her father, Cornelius, and mother, Nora, 8 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her husband, 3 sons, 2 daughters in law (Kelly and Allison), 3 grandchildren (Kristine, Ryan and Joseph), her sister (Philomena Skjoren), brother (Dennis V. Forde), 4 sister-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

She will be interned at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos Hills on Friday, September 3rd.
