Farewell & Thank You to Sr. Georgi

Resurrection School and Parish families gathered on our school grounds on the afternoon and evening of Saturday, May 22nd, for a barbecue honoring Sr. Georgianna (Georgi) Coonis, SND, who would be finishing her seventh year as principal of Resurrection Parish School at the end of the current academic year and retiring from school administration.

The school gave two gifts to Sr. Georgi at the barbecue.  One was a picture, taken on a day when Sr. Georgi was away from the school, of the entire student body and staff gathered in Farana Center and grouped in such a way as to spell out the word, “PEACE”.  The other was a financial gift which Sr. Georgi said she would use for a trip to Washington DC.  (She says she has always dreamed of visiting the Lincoln Memorial.)

There was another surprise for Sr. Georgi on June 9th, the last day of school.  After the morning School Mass, she was presented with a quilt which was made by school parents and signed by all of the students.

Sr. Georgi has made a profound difference in our school and in the lives of our students during the seven years she has been with us.  She will be greatly missed and we wish her God’s blessings in the years to come.
