Ordinations to the Priesthood

This month there will be four ordinations to the priesthood of special interest to our parish. Three of the ordinations are significant because the men are being ordained for our own Diocese of San Jose. The fourth is the ordination of a young man from another diocese who served Resurrection Parish as a deacon this past year as part of his formation program at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park.

Rev. Mr. Tito Cartagenas, Rev. Mr. Joseph Kim
and Rev. Mr. Hector Basañez

At 9:30 am on Saturday, June 5th, Rev. Mr. Tito Jesus Cartagenas, Jr., Rev. Mr. Joseph Han Kim, and Rev. Mr. Hector Basañez will be ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of San Jose by Bishop Patrick J. McGrath.  The ceremony will take place at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in San Jose. [You can see biographies of each of the men by clicking on the appropriate name, above.]

On Friday evening, June 11th, Rev. Mr. J.Jesus Ballesteros Barajas will be ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Reno by Bishop Randolph Calvo.  The ceremony will take place in the Church of St. Therese of the Little Flower in Reno.

Rev. Mr. Ballesteros served Resurrection Parish this past year helping out in our RCIA process and preaching as Sunday Masses.  [Click here to see the blog article welcoming J.Jesus to the parish last October.]

We hope to have Fr. Ballesteros back at Resurrection to preside at Mass for us in the near future.

We congratulate these four men on their upcoming ordinations to the priesthood and promise to keep them, and their ministries, in our prayers.
