Cursillo – a Short Course in Christianity

For those of you not familiar with Cursillo, “Cursillo” is short for “Cursillo de Christiandad” – Spanish, meaning a short course in Christianity.

The 3 day retreat helps men and women deepen their faith and to grow in the Christian community.

From Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon, our guests, whom we refer to as candidates, will listen to talks, participate in discussions, sing, laugh and pray. What you will do, see and hear is not only inspirational – it has the potential to be transformational.

Cursillo is a lay movement with a spiritual director, a priest. However, as a lay movement many of the talks are given by men and women from the parish community; people who have experienced Christ in their lives and are willing to share their stories.

You can only attend Cursillo once as a candidate but can come back as often as you like to serve in one of many team roles. For example, several team members are selected as cooks and, if Cursillo was a restaurant, it would surely have the Zagat seal of approval – the food is marvelous!

This experience will give you the opportunity to look at yourself from within and determine the state of your relationship with God and others – your family, your community and the world as a whole from a Christian perspective.

And, if that’s not enough to make you want to come forward and sign up, there’s more!  The end of the weekend is really not the end at all but more a beginning because each candidate has the opportunity to join one of many men’s or women’s groups that meet regularly and provide an ongoing path of growth in the Christian community.

The next woman’s Cursillo is November 5th to 8th  And, the next men’s Cursillo is November 19th to 22nd.

The time is right for you to consider Cursillo. For more information, take a look at our brochure. To sign up, contact Mike or Cynthia Kurtz at 408-992-0414 or email Fr. Bob at
