We Welcome Seminarian Jesus Ballesteros

J. Jesus Ballesteros, a student at St. Patrick’s Seminary who  is helping out here at Resurrection Parish this year as a part of his seminary field-work, will be ordained to the diaconate on Saturday, October 31st, at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park.  He will begin serving as a deacon at Sunday Masses the following day here at Resurrection.

Jesus was born in Mexico, where he spent some time as a field worker before his family moved to Reno, Nevada. It was while he was serving in his local parish, St. Therese of the Little Flower, as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Usher, that he met Bishop Phillip Straling who invited him to study for the priesthood for the Dioceses of Reno. He studied in seminaries in Tijuana, Mexico, and San Antonio, Texas, before being moved to St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park by Bishop Randolph Calvo, the current Bishop of Reno.

Jesus will be helping out in our RCIA program and, upon his ordination to the diaconate , will serve the parish as a deacon, preaching at Masses, and helping with our baptism program.

We are happy to have Jesus with us and promise to keep him in our prayers as he begins his last year of study before his ordination to the priesthood.
